No Potty Training Necessary

I love having two girls and I love having them close in age. They are so cute and wonderful and all that good stuff, and here's another story to add to the Ferrara history books: Last Friday in the play area, in the middle of a morning meeting with our summer nanny, Ruby pulls off her diaper...and then proceeds to throw it in the kitchen trash. I was surprised to say the least--my 20 month old throwing away a used diaper in the right place. When Ruby's eyes met mine, she said "pee pee" and ran to the potty. In the middle of a sentence with Brittany, I asked Sable to help Ruby. As a mom would do--still speaking--I tuned my ears toward the powder room and heard all kinds of commotion: the hot pink princess stool being moved around the floor, the vent, and then pee hitting the inside of a ceramic toilet. Hoping it was pee hitting the toilet and not the ceramic tile floor, I ran into the bathroom and Sable was wiping Ruby and giving praise in her 3-year-old voice, ...
