No Potty Training Necessary

Image
I love having two girls and I love having them close in age. They are so cute and wonderful and all that good stuff, and here's another story to add to the Ferrara history books: Last Friday in the play area, in the middle of a morning meeting with our summer nanny, Ruby pulls off her diaper...and then proceeds to throw it in the kitchen trash. I was surprised to say the least--my 20 month old throwing away a used diaper in the right place. When Ruby's eyes met mine, she said "pee pee" and ran to the potty. In the middle of a sentence with Brittany, I asked Sable to help Ruby. As a mom would do--still speaking--I tuned my ears toward the powder room and heard all kinds of commotion: the hot pink princess stool being moved around the floor, the vent, and then pee hitting the inside of a ceramic toilet. Hoping it was pee hitting the toilet and not the ceramic tile floor, I ran into the bathroom and Sable was wiping Ruby and giving praise in her 3-year-old voice, ...

Ice Cream

One of the many benefits of a new urbanist neighborhood: a literal hop, skip & jump to the ice cream parlor (One of my fave pics of my girls!)

Stella Grace

Image
My brown-eyed girls and I headed south to hang out with the Dutch Star Stella Grace and Kristin & Alice. Awesome is the only word that comes close enough to describe our wonderful visit-- Kristin & I spent our first pregnancies together in the Big Apple and our little girls spent the first year of their lives as buddies before both of us relocated with our husbands. Kristin is expecting her second baby in October.

My Babies Love The Beach

Image
Four trips to the beach so far, my babies can't get enough. East coast, west coast, South Florida, Panhandle. Babies that love the beach make a mom's life easier--it's like an unending playground of fun...not to mention it's fun to talk with mom-friends and grandmothers while our kids play together. (more pics to come once I sync my phone)

Mother's Day

Image
My fourth mother's day, so nice to be with my two girls. Their Daddy surprised me with an iced coffee maker and two bags of PJ's coffee beans. There's no joe as satisfying in the summer as an authentic glass of New Orleans iced coffee! New dresses & new babies (notice Ruby's 12-wk unborn baby on her lap)

Little Gator Girls

Although my girls enjoyed their recent trip to Southern Miss, they just love the Florida Gators. So funny the things we find on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OtAxoiRq9o

My GNV Girls

Image
Life in the GNV as a Family of Four is proving to be a wonderful time even though it's polar opposite of our season as NYC DINKs. Can't compare the two but both are equally pleasurable. Every day I love being with my girls, I'm so thankful for the opportunity to be a mom! Our girls are growing up--Ruby asked to sleep with Sable two weeks ago and voila!

Track & Field and Fourteen Years of Friendship

Image
Attending my alma mater's track and field reunion is a highlight I will remember amongst life's memories. From the social on Friday night to the grand finale banquet, I spent the weekend with two of my track-buddies-turned-lifelong-friends. Kristen, Rebecca and I had a nice time albeit was too short...but thankful for the time we spent together :) Our families sans husbands Celebrating fourteen years of friendship Alex, Sable & Ruby dancing in the rain on USM's football field Coach & Judi Williams, Coach Blackwood (disclosure: these pics are "borrowed" from Rebecca's site)
