Quote of the Day

Occasionally I hold meetings at my home during nap times.  My girls usually greet my guest at the door, offer them water and go back to their quiet time activities.  Today as I was saying goodbye and walking my guest to the door, Sable blurted out, "You know what?  You look like one of the ladies on The Biggest Loser."  L.O.L.

God's Rules vs. House Rules

At dinner: Sable: "Mommy, Does the Bible say not to smack your food?" Me: "No, why do you ask?" Sable:  "Because I was wondering if that was one of His rules.  You mention it alot." Me: "Nope, it's Mommy's rule.  We must eat like young ladies." Sable: "Oh...so smacking is not in the Bible?"

NOT TOO SMILEY Here we are on the path by the turtle pond. These photos were taken after naps on a HOT January day, and good thing you can't see our sweaty backs and foreheads from trying with all our might to corral our 3 children [mainly Joel].  WARDROBE CHANGE FOR RUBY SIMONE The photographer decided to finish the session in front of our home...that is, after Joel and Ruby fell into the creek...hence, the wardrobe change for Ruby (who didn't mind a second dress to don for a photo shoot).  As for Joel, Daddy just cuffed his pants and that was that.   "IT'S LIKE A CIRCUS EVERY DAY" The last sentence...to borrow a quote from my mother about her home when us 5 kids were younger...And circuses are loads of fun... And I think my father summed it up equally well when he said, "Raising young kids is like herding ants after you've kicked over the ant pile" Amidst the seemingly endless days of raising little children, I agree w...

2012 College Reunion

Image
2012 Indianapolis Visit with Southern Misses Rebecca, Souhaila, me, Kristen I have many more photos from our October reunion-- a mom with three important priorties means way less blog posts.  Perhaps I can employ Sable to handle our PR? Actually, I think all 3 children could upload photos at their young ages. The reunion included 8 adults and 10 children 5 and under, Sable being the oldest.  We all stayed under one roof in Matt and Souhaila's large home in the burbs of Indy.  The cool weather was enjoyed by the three of us Southern dwellers and the kids enjoyed an apple orchard and the Children's Museum but perhaps Souhaila's back yard swingset even more than the field trips we took.

An Article by Bonnie Gibbs Vengrow

This is a throwback from when I was a "mom of two".  I came across it when I was researching online (how random).  For the full article and to view the pic of Ruby Simone, visit http://www.ivillage.ca/parenting/child/ready-laugh-the-crazy-stuff-our-kids-say-got-one-add . Bonnie wrote this at one of her jobs (I think iVillage). Cheese Head “For about a week, I thought my daughter, Ruby, was praying out loud because I heard her say ‘Jesus.’ Five days later, she grabbed my hand, walked me to the pantry and pointed to what she really wanted: Cheez-Its." - Gina, mom of two, Gainesville, FL GINA
