Ruby’s 12th Birthday Party

Image
Ruby had a lot of birthdays to celebrate her 12th: one with Aunt Ginger, one at home with Pops and Nana, her actual birthday with a cake from Mrs. Shelley as well as gifts from our office staff, and then an evening at her youth group. This weekend, though, we celebrated on the lake with the Pridgen’s and Hyatt’s. Ten kids but only 3 girls. So naturally, Ruby spent most of the day with Sable and Ella, the three girls cruising on the tube or surfboard on Jamie’s ski boat. The boys did a little of that too, but also enjoyed countless jumps off our boat’s diving platform.  At 12, Ruby’s favorite foods remain as cheeseburgers with ketchup, chips and anything chocolate for dessert.   Note: not too many pics this trip due to all adult hands on deck for lifeguard duty

Typical Weekday with Sons

There’s no such thing with sons, at least not yet at their ages of 9 and 4.  The only sure thing in each day is bold energy, live creatures, and lots of surprises.  After school Activities—(which ended at 11am since Joel started his day at 6am): Today included a bug cage (aka Ruby’s empty Icebreaker gum container) with temporary tenants of 4 lizards, 2 love bugs, and a leaf bug. Catch and Release is the name of the lizard game.

Preschool Arithmetic

Image
James and Joel took a trip to the baseball card store. Today’s math lesson was counting to twenty — that is, 20 free baseball cards that the store owner gave to James.

Twelve!

Twelve year request: dalgona coffee for breakfast. We love our baby girl.

Show and Tell

Image
At least once a day James brings lizards in for show and tell. Sometimes he gives us girls a heads up, other times he puts them in our face unannounced while we are working math or science problems at the table.
