Quotes of the Day

At the park: I'm pushing Sable & Ruby with all my might on a tire swing, they're roaring with uncontrollable laughter, Sable catches her breath barely enough to say, "What kind of mom is this?! What kind of mom are you? You're a rock star mom!" In the car: Ruby: Mommy, Can me and Sable live by you when I grow up? Me: Why I would love that, Ruby. Ruby: Yay because we will be neighbors. We will be friends and I will have a dad so I can have a baby. (translation: dad=husband LOL) At dinner: Ruby: Daddy, When I grow up I'm going to live next door to you. And I'm not going to call you on the phone. Because I can walk over and talk to you.

Cirque du Ferrara

Image
I recently asked my mom what it was like to have so many little children under one roof and her answer, "Ohhhh, it was a circus." And she's right again. Circuses are fun, never boring, there's always a surprise when you least expect it and at the end of the night you smile at the good memories that were made. My Warrior Princess suited up by her friend Jonathan. Notice the camouflage slippers & authentic UF Gator helmet. Her black and red gingham dress just happened to coordinate with his armor. Easygoing Joel will ride in a stroller, a sling & on Daddy's shoulders

Six Months of Son Light

Image
Joel Philip's life in brief: He's a beam of sonlight. The son rises around 7am at our home. I look forward to walking into the nursery where squeals and cooing are in full session. Then he looks up to see me, most of the time surprised, and all of the time delighted to see his mommy. It's a gift that never gets old...if only I could find a way to bottle these moments for my personal pleasure once Joel grows into a new (and equally wonderful) stage. Until I find a way, I will savor every morning that I am given to enjoy such a radiant son rise.

Milestones

Image
One day shy of six months and Joel enjoyed his first time in the high chair. Sweet potatoes & oatmeal, yum! Spoiled! (with sitter Katelyn) Drumroll Please: Miss Minivan Manager graduated to a booster. The smile on her face doesn't give away her excitement now does it?

Baby Love

Funny how words are not fitting to express the love in my heart for my babies.

The Heat Is On

Image
It feels almost as muggy as Southeast Louisiana around here. I picked up some new inside toys so we can enjoy the indoors while the noon day sun keeps us away. Some pics from indoor play & some from early evening outdoor walks while Daddy works late summer nights. Both daughters love playing make believe, especially babies & house. Sable enjoys coloring & anything with detail--Legos & 48-piece puzzles--while Ruby Simone casts her creative touch to everything she does--dancing whenever music is on, even in Publix and Starbucks. What makes me laugh is that she enjoys all genres. This morning she danced to The Archies' Sugar Sugar, Toto, Def Leopard...(geez, I'm so my father playing the "new" oldies around the house, except out of my iPhone instead of a voice recorder. love you Dad!) Girly Girl He Ain't Nicknamed White Boy For Nuthin' Too Short to Reach? Not a Problem A Clorox Wipe and Our Girls are off to Cleaning Ho...

Quotes of the Day

Sable: Jesus wore white panties on the cross. Ruby: Ugh, I just want to go to heaven so I can have candy. It's taking soooo long.

Joely Butta Boley

Image
(okay, so his nickname is kind of embarassing but that's what the girls and I call him. they usually say it really fast over and over) The five month mark has proven big for our little guy. Two weeks ago he began scooting and cut a tooth. Last week his second tooth popped up next to his first. And this week? Whenever his sisters are playing on the floor (puzzles, dolls, you name it, he wants it), he concerns himself with their game. Puzzles are his teething toy of choice and if the girls are protecting their jigsaw, he resorts to a baby doll for teeth relief. I find myself laughing out loud when the girls try to reason with Joel. It starts with a tone of sweetness,"Joely Butta Boley don't put that puzzle piece in your mouth" and ends up something like, "Ugh, Joely stop playing with our baby dolls." HA! Pics courtesy of Brittany. She loves our babies and said she scrapbooks them. How sweet :)
