Two Year Old Tales

I'm thinking of striking.  Or forming a "Mom of Two Year Olds" union.  Until I decide, I'm taking all recommendations for toddler boarding schools.  Or full-day camp, 7 days a week.  Just kidding.  I'm thankful for an almost 28-month-old, non-swimmer-kamakaze-in-the-pool, naked-jay-bird-free-peeing, climbing-in-the-pantry, cologne-bottle-emptying-in-his-hair, thinks-he-is-an-abstract-artist-crayon-smearing-all-over-the-tile-floors, full-of-unlimited-facial-expressions-for-every-two-year-old-mood-swing, little boy.  Anyone want to join in the fun for 2 hours so I can clean the kitchen, for the third time today??  Joel Philip Ferrara comes with a full guarantee that you will not be bored!

A Tribute to My Mom

Greta Garbo Both Sable and Ruby enjoy history as much as I do; Ruby possibly enjoys it the most.  When my girls have a question, we usually turn to the Internet, the source for finding almost any piece of information. Sable: "No, not even close." -------------------------------------------------- I have good memories of my mom from childhood.  I remember them well, like how she was the prettiest lady I'd ever seen, she smelled good all the time--even her pillow smelled nice like her, and she didn't use bad words.  I remember how polite she was and how she dressed classy.  I hope my childre...

Friday Funday -- Family Stories

We started the morning by reading a novel on Anne Frank.  The two chapters focused on stories from Anne's childhood.  After closing the book, our conversation including our own family stories.  Here are some of the bunny trails we took in our storytelling... Mommy to my daughters, when referring to a Germany story from 1909 found in our book: "Did you know that in 1909 Maw-Maw wasn't even born yet. All of this occurred before Maw-Maw was even a baby." Sable: Pause.  "Mommy, was Maw-Maw born before Jesus died on the cross?" Sable to Mommy and Ruby: "One time Mimi told me that Pops was in a car accident and he was hurt." Mommy: "That's right, I was your age, 6 years old.  I remember when the teacher pulled me out of class to tell me that my dad was going to be okay." Sable:  "Mommy, I'm so very glad Pops is alive today.  I love him so much." Ruby: "I'm glad too.  He makes yummy cookies." Sable: ...
