Memorial Day at the Beach

Joel Fish Starts Gymnastics

Today Joel and I tried Mommy & Me gymnastics, the same class I took with Sable and with Ruby Simone.  So much fun, so different with a son than with a daughter. What didn't surprise me is that Joel was the most agile, active gym star of all the little ones.  In true Ferrara fashion, he climbed the ladder, rock wall, jumped in every foam pit and ran circles around the other boys and girls. What did surprise me about Joel?  Hands down, his aggression.  While my 3 year old girls would play on the monkey bars, trampolines, etc,  Joel swung on every rope, went down the "fire fighter" pole multiple times, climbed the ladder up and down, up and down...and wouldn't let me help him in any way.  Sable liked to sit behind a car wheel and pretend she was going through Chick-fil-A while I would be her cashier...not Joel--I thought perhaps the car wheel would fly off the wooden post into which it was screwed.  I felt initiated into a "Welcome to the wor...
