Summer of 2017

Most of our summer was a continuation of the 2016-2017 school year.  Our schedule was quite full with Ruby being taught by Dr. Wendy Cheney and working with me at home in between weekly sessions, Sable & Joel participating in daily swim team, Ruby at gymnastics M-Th, and all three children at tennis on Saturday mornings.  Joel accelerated in his reading, so reading almost daily was imperative to his cognitive development.  Reading, writing and arithmetic commenced on a daily (sometimes 6 days/week) for Joel--as was the pattern for teaching Sable and Ruby at his age. Our family enjoyed All About Learning , an online summer camp that Uncle Mike created.  Courtney continued helping us throughout the summer until she took the month of August to visit her family and grandmother out west. We took the month of August at a slower pace.  Our kids really enjoy when I read aloud to them, so we knocked out some books -- both fiction and non-fiction -- this summer. ...
