Cry Date

Image
What was an attempt at a play date for our little girls Stella and Sable turned into a cry date. Things were going smoothly until we sat them next to each other in their Bumbos. One cried then the other and soon it was full-blown waterworks. A Baby Einstein video temporarily quieted the little ladies and enough for Solomon to join them in the TV fun.

New Toys

Too busy for sleeping, these days when we are not out on the town, Sable happily plays with her new toys.

Picnic in Prospect Park

Sable had a fun time at our church City Light's picnic yesterday. She was so happy to hang out with her friend Stella.

Things I Like To Do With Pops

Image
What type of activities might a grandpaw do with his granddaughter? Upon returning from a date, we found Sable in the arms of her baby-sitter, Pops, with her eyes glued to the TV. Our tiny tot watched her first movie and not just any, but a classic, Rambo First Blood! Ever since that day with Pops Sable is drawn to the TV. She watched her first Baby Einstein video this morning and loved it :) Watching Rambo Caught in the Act

Pops & Mimi's Visit to the Big Apple

Image
It happened to be the perfect weekend for Dad and Mom to visit as it was Sable's 3 month birthday and my 29th. My parents baby-sat for us on Saturday while we went to the LSU NYC alumni's annual crawfish boil, my mom cooked a delicious bday meal, and we went to brunch on Sunday after church. Monday I brought Sable to Times Square so my mom could baby-sit while I went to the gym, then we hit her fave lunch place, Chipotle. That night we had dinner at John's Pizza with cousins Jenny, Bonnie and Paul. Tuesday we laid low at my apartment and while I had intentions of cooking a nice meal for my parents, I ended up taking a nap while my mom cooked. Grandparents are the best!!

Lamaze Reunion

Image
Tonight we trekked to St Luke's Roosevelt (where Sable was born) for our Lamaze class reunion. It was so much fun meeting everyone's babies for the first time. This meeting was quite different from the others as there was lots crying going on. I laughed to myself remembering that 3 months ago this type of gathering would've irritated me yet tonight I was enjoying it with the best of 'em. Everyone shared their birth stories then we took photos of the babies and caught up with each other. Check out Baby Sable locking arms with little Annie.

Like Grandfather Like Father Like Daughter

Sable has the Ferrara smile. She looks so much like her daddy to me that sometimes I even see her Papa (grandfather Mr. John Ferrara) in her precious little face.

Doesn't Sable look like Kip from Napoleon Dynomite? HA!!

Mini Get-Away

My colleague, Michelle, invited us to her gorgeous new home for a bbq today. At work she would make my mouth water when she talked about the meals she prepared and today I tasted them for myself. She is quite the cook! It was so nice to get out of the city for the day that I actually forgot what day it was! I felt as though I was on vacation.

It's a Boy!

Image
It's official--my sister, Holly, is having a baby boy due on October 31. Juliana called and shared the good news with us this week. This will be the first grandson in the Ricky Gibbs family and the first great-grandson for Maw-Maw. We are excited to welcome our first nephew.

Beach Baby

Image
Beach season began today on Long Island so we packed a cooler and headed east. Our first time to the beach as parents wasn't much different from any other since Sable was faithful to her naptimes. A little NYC lagniappe--Either Sable is a magnet or little girls love littler girls. Two weeks ago a baby girl walked up to our picnic blanket speaking Spanish to her poppy. He translated, "She thought your baby was a doll." This week on a walk in the 'hood, two young school girls in uniforms stopped to chat it up with Sable. And today while on the beach, a 3 year-old made her way over to get a good look at Sable with her mom quickly following behind her. Toddler Edy was shy to say her name and age but didn't hesitate to voice, "I want to hold your baby."
