Ferrara's in Florida

And I thought Ruby had a wonderful world in which to be born: A child's world with toys & playdates (as opposed to firstborn Sable where playdates involved late night dining, adult conversation and "infant in arms" air travel). Baby #3 will have it perhaps better than the rest: A child's world, playdates, toys and best of all, THREE MOMMIES! Almost every night in bed, Daddy ends his day by listening to me recap the day's funny quotes and stories which sometimes include short iPhone videos. These days the stories include curiosity about this new baby-- Sable: "Mommy, I hope you're not going to nurse OUR baby." Me: "Why do you say this?" Sable: "Because I will be okay to feed OUR baby bottles all the time." Ruby: "Pay. Pay." (translation: Pray. Pray.) Me: "Pray about what?" Ruby: "Pay Baby." So she lifts up my shirt, puts her hands on my belly button and prays something like, "SHERARARARA...

Sable & Ruby attended Carol Ann's 1st birthday party where it was princess everything. Ruby wasn't too into her tutu until we returned home. She since has tried to sleep in her tutu, has worn it to the gym over a dress and I've already had to wash it.

We had a blast July 4th weekend. Pops and Nana came to town and with the temps in the high 70s/low 80s, plus rain galore, we had 4 days of vacation on one of the notoriously steamy summer holidays. Some pics from the Itchetucknee Springs

This is my fave picture of my girls so far this summer. Sable and Ruby made necklaces, and Sable tied them around their necks (Ruby's is half around the neck, half around the arm). I think they were on their way to a pretend picnic in the corner of the play room this morning when I snapped this pic.

I love having two girls and I love having them close in age. They are so cute and wonderful and all that good stuff, and here's another story to add to the Ferrara history books: Last Friday in the play area, in the middle of a morning meeting with our summer nanny, Ruby pulls off her diaper...and then proceeds to throw it in the kitchen trash. I was surprised to say the least--my 20 month old throwing away a used diaper in the right place. When Ruby's eyes met mine, she said "pee pee" and ran to the potty. In the middle of a sentence with Brittany, I asked Sable to help Ruby. As a mom would do--still speaking--I tuned my ears toward the powder room and heard all kinds of commotion: the hot pink princess stool being moved around the floor, the vent, and then pee hitting the inside of a ceramic toilet. Hoping it was pee hitting the toilet and not the ceramic tile floor, I ran into the bathroom and Sable was wiping Ruby and giving praise in her 3-year-old voice, ...

My brown-eyed girls and I headed south to hang out with the Dutch Star Stella Grace and Kristin & Alice. Awesome is the only word that comes close enough to describe our wonderful visit-- Kristin & I spent our first pregnancies together in the Big Apple and our little girls spent the first year of their lives as buddies before both of us relocated with our husbands. Kristin is expecting her second baby in October.

Four trips to the beach so far, my babies can't get enough. East coast, west coast, South Florida, Panhandle. Babies that love the beach make a mom's life easier--it's like an unending playground of fun...not to mention it's fun to talk with mom-friends and grandmothers while our kids play together.
