No Potty Training Necessary

I love having two girls and I love having them close in age. They are so cute and wonderful and all that good stuff, and here's another story to add to the Ferrara history books:
Last Friday in the play area, in the middle of a morning meeting with our summer nanny, Ruby pulls off her diaper...and then proceeds to throw it in the kitchen trash. I was surprised to say the least--my 20 month old throwing away a used diaper in the right place. When Ruby's eyes met mine, she said "pee pee" and ran to the potty.
In the middle of a sentence with Brittany, I asked Sable to help Ruby. As a mom would do--still speaking--I tuned my ears toward the powder room and heard all kinds of commotion: the hot pink princess stool being moved around the floor, the vent, and then pee hitting the inside of a ceramic toilet. Hoping it was pee hitting the toilet and not the ceramic tile floor, I ran into the bathroom and Sable was wiping Ruby and giving praise in her 3-year-old voice, "Ruby Honey, nice job my Sweetie"...and of course I started jumping up and down lavishing praise all over both of my girls.
That was the first day of Ruby's practical and effortless move to the potty. Pee-pee and poo-poo downstairs, upstairs, at the doctor's office, even getting out to potty at the pool!! God has a sense of humor and has blessed me by not having to potty train my Ruby Simone. It's me who's doing the potty dance :)
The joys of staying home with my girls are many, and the past five days have brought much laughter to me as a mom: (1) Sable looks forward to "teaching/assisting" Ruby to the potty as she also receieves a M&M every time Ruby makes #1 or #2 in the potty. (2)Ruby & her training potty: She finds it useful as a step stool for pulling out hair bows, toothpaste and other tempting items she can now see at counter-height...any way to use the training toilet except for making potty in it. (3) At six months, Ruby Simone refused baby food, and home-made at that. I started laughing today as I remembered that a year ago she wanted only what her big sis ate, so why should she want to sit on any other throne than the real one?
p.s. The pic is a stock photo, but doesn't it resemble Ruby?
