Hillcrest Quarantine

When one’s habitat includes multiple homes on the tiniest lots around a cul-de-sac, quarantining gets tricky. We made a pack of sorts to separate from others by staying in the cul de sac. Every day, about one mom gets groceries for whomever needs them (unless it’s commodities, then the husbands pick up the maximum rationed allowance which seems to be a quantity of 2 per item).

The mamas planned multiple activities from daily breakfast at Candan’s, Bible class to art, the sport of wrestling to dodge ball, science experiment, water safety practice to a day at the lake, and even an Irish cooking class for St. Patrick’s Day. Of course, there was ample amounts of reading, movies and playtime. 16 kids is a lot to handle at once so some of us watched the U-9s while others led instructional classes for the 9-14 year olds. Oh, and I ended up at the polls with 4 future voters (see James’ photo).

What’s better than being homeschooled? Doing homeschool with your neighbors! Wow, what an amazing week we’ve had! Truly some of the best days of 2020 for me. Started the quarantine with two moms taking my girls for lunch and manicures, then Sable’s 13th bday party which led into an at-home church service, with 5 weekdays of doing life with our neighbors.  God’s blessings are abundant and we are so grateful to Him for this life we live, especially thankful to live in community with these neighbors!
